BLS ENGLISH (Bury Language School) was established 15 years ago in the historic centre of the beautiful market town of Bury St Edmunds. Our school has always attracted “results-oriented” students who are serious about improving their English - and our excellent examination results bear testimony to this. The vast majority of our students have come to us as individual bookings.
 The school buildings are situated in the heart of the historic core of the town with the magnificent Abbey Gate as our main view. The 17th century wooden beamed classrooms provide a lovely ambience in which to study with our highly motivated and passionate teachers. There is a traditional English Tea shop on the ground floor.

Directly across the square from this, BLS English is very pleased to announce that we have taken on a second historic building on the famous Angel Hill backing on to the magnificent Abbey Gardens. This has significantly increased our options for more of our increasingly popular SHORT COURSES FOR GROUPS year round. These courses are based on an English and Activities / Excursions model – and can be tailored to the needs of different groups. The minimum duration is for one week - 6 nights and BLS English is able to cater for groups of 12 to 60.
Full-Time Host Family Coordinator
Integral to this success is our full-time Host coordinator who personally inspects, selects and monitors each and every one of our Host families. Our Host family selection is truly excellent - and we are very proud of our reputation in this regard. Good, friendly, warm and appropriate Host accommodation is a major ingredient in the recipe for a student’s course to be a happy and successful one.

Bury St Edmunds is something of a "secret destination" and everyone who visits us is struck by the beauty, the cleanliness, and the great mix of old and new as far as shopping and facilities go; ancient streets to discover little known shops set next to a brand new shopping mall; the Theatre Royal (second oldest theatre in England) contrasts with a brand new multiplex cinema complex and extensive sports facilities while the Nutshell pub (smallest pub in England ) and the lovely Angel Hotel where Charles Dickens stayed next door to the school add interest.

Bury St Edmunds is 20 miles from Cambridge - and on a direct train route from London Liverpool Street station – 90 minutes. Stansted is our nearest airport – (45 minutes by car) and we operate a "meet and greet" car pick up service to and from all major airports.
