The Bury St. Edmunds Food & Drink Festival 2018

August 1, 2018

For the sixth year in a row, the Bury St. Edmunds Food and Drink Festival will be taking over the whole town with a multitude of culinary events. Food lovers will revel in this two-day free event, organised by Business Improvement District (BID), running over the August Bank Holiday, Sunday 26th – Monday 27th.

Once again, there will be celebrity chef appearances where they will be doing demonstrations, showcasing dishes from some of Bury’s popular restaurants. This year, James Tanner will take to the stage on the Sunday at Stoves Cookery theatre, sharing his kitchen secrets and answering any culinary questions. He is well-known for being the current resident chef on ITV’s Lorraine, as well as owning restaurants in Kent and the South West. On Bank Holiday Monday, Paul Rankin will be in the kitchen demonstrating his skills most of us would have seen on ‘Ready Steady Cook’.

A number of local restaurants will also be doing some cookery demonstrations over the two days such as: the Angel Hotel, Maison Bleue and the Northgate; LP will be doing a cocktail demonstration. The Buttermarket and Cornhill will be covered in an extensive selection of food and drink stalls and the Farmer’s Market will showcase on Angel Hill, both providing a variety of top quality local produce.

There will be children’s entertainment on both days to keep them amused, like the classic Punch & Judy shows, a mini farm, and plenty of fairground rides. Magicians and circus acts will be dotted around the town too, so make you keep an eye out for them! To bring out their cooking ambitions, there will also be a children’s workshop in cake-decorating so they can get creative and try something new.

Whether you’re a foodie or a local producer, this festival will be a great weekend for everyone, with tonnes to do, see, taste and try!
